Southern Wilderness NZ is owned by Ryan Kelly. Originally formed in 1982, the company has a proud tradition associated with the wilderness regions of the top of the South Island of New Zealand and continues this under the current ownership.

Tours offered are quality and authentic New Zealand wilderness experiences with an emphasis on education, conservation, local history and culture as well as New Zealand native flora and fauna. This is always combined with fine local food and wine - so much so, Southern Wilderness is well known as the 'gourmet guided walk company'.

Ryan has an extensive background in the guiding and tourism industry, including two years as head guide on the Routeburn Track, as well as guiding throughout New Zealand and overseas. Southern Wilderness has a strong philosophy on harboring a healthy and fun team environment, and everyone at Southern Wilderness is focused on creating and maintaining a world class Guiding Company.
